Sir Nigel Broomfield KCMG

The Young Königswinter Alumni e.V. is deeply saddened to announce the death of Sir Nigel Broomfield, who passed away on 29 October 2018.

Sir Nigel enjoyed a distinguished career in the UK diplomatic service. He held many diplomatic and ambassadorial posts which included being Ambassador to East Germany (1988 – 1990) and Ambassador to Germany (1993 – 1997). His in-depth knowledge of German-British relations as well as his wide-ranging experience together with his charm and intellect were invaluable assets in his role as Chairman of the Young Königswinter Conference and he played a crucial role in making the Young Königswinter Conference such an extraordinary experience for so many of us. He will be remembered with great affection and warmth by those of us who came to know him.

He will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his wife and family.
