In 2020 John published his highly acclaimed book ‘Why the Germans do it better’ in the United Kingdom. This month ‘Warum Deutschland es besser macht’ (Rowohlt) will be published in Germany. At a time, when many Germans are wondering about their government’s strategy in fighting the Covid pandemic and are uncertain about what comes after the era Merkel, John will tell us why the Germans still do it better – a thesis some Germans and some Brits alike see with scepticism. He will share his insights into how much Germany has changed in the past years and will speak about the British view of Germany as well as about the United Kingdom itself. Please join us for a lively discussion which will begin with a short impulse from our speaker followed by Q&A.
